•Almost one in every four young people in Turkey is not in education or employment. For young women, this rate is almost one in every three people.

•When youth unemployment is examined by gender, it is seen that women are more disadvantaged than men in Turkey and in the world.

•Gender is an important determining factor of NEET in Turkey, where three quarters of NEET youth are women.

•Another important factor determining NEET status is the geographical region where young people live in Turkey; because the young people who are most likely to be NEET in Turkey are in the Southeastern Anatolia Region.

While educational attainment is also an important factor associated with NEET status, household wealth status is less associated with being NEET.
